Welcome to Beadle Elementary School. We are affectionately known as the “Beadle Bugs.” Beadle Elementary was named after General William Henry Harrison Beadle who was known as the “savior of our school lands.” Our mission is to optimize student potential for success in a global society. Beadle was erected in 1926 and has been remodeled and updated many times throughout its 80 plus years of educating students in the Yankton area. Beadle has approximately 340 students and depending on the grade level either two or three sections. Beadle boasts a caring, educated and veteran staff that works to help each child maximize their potential. Beadle is an NCA accredited school. Beadle’s programming includes a balanced literacy approach to teaching language arts. We offer full-day kindergarten, Reading Recovery, a district-wide EBD program, and many extra-curricular activities and clubs in addition to the strong foundation students receive in Math, Reading, Social Studies, Science, and the Arts. Breakfast is available to students before school each morning and a Just For Kids before and after school program is housed at Beadle for parents that are in need of child care.
