Young children like to know what will happen and when. They benefit from a schedule that is familiar and predictable, but not rigid. The schedule should have both balance and variety.
In preschool, the sequence of daily activities will be slightly different each day, but it will follow a predictable pattern. There will be times to do things together as a group and times to work independently. There will be times to sit quietly and draw, times to do puzzles or listen to stories, and times to move vigorously. Your child will have opportunities to initiate activities, too, such as build a tower with blocks, cut out shapes, paint at an easel, etc. There will also be activities led by the teacher such as learning a new song or listening to a story. The children at Webster will have the opportunity to visit the library, computer lab, and gymnasium!
Their daily classroom schedule will typically include:
- Classroom Greeting
- Circle Time
- Activity Centers
- Snack Time
- Outdoor play
- Story Time
For your convenience, the preschool program will follow the Yankton Public School calendar and have the same scheduled days off. The morning session will start at 8:35 and end at 11:15. The afternoon sessions will begin at 12:35 and end at 3:15.
