Welcome

Welcome to Beadle Elementary School. We are opening the doors for our 96th school year on August 22, 2022. We are affectionately known as the “Beadle Bugs.” Beadle Elementary was named after General William Henry Harrison Beadle who was known as the “savior of our school lands.” Our mission is to optimize student potential for success in a global society. Beadle was erected in 1926 and has been remodeled and updated many times throughout its 95 years of educating students in the Yankton area.   Beadle has approximately 400 students and three classrooms for each grade level. Beadle boasts a caring, educated, and veteran staff that works to help each child maximize their potential.

We offer full-day kindergarten, Title Reading, a district-wide EBD program, and extra-curricular activities and clubs in addition to the strong foundation students receive in Math, Reading, Social Studies, Science, and the Arts.

The local Boy's and Girl's Club offers a before and after school program for parents that are in need of child care.  Our parent organization is called B.E.S.T. which stands for Beadle Educational Support Team and links the efforts of parents, teachers, and community members. B.E.S.T. hosts a variety of additional opportunities for family involvement including the Beadle Bridge Walk, Bingo Nights, Book Fairs, Carnival, Santa’s Workshop, and other events.  We work with the community to support our students and staff through volunteers, Kids HOPE, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Big Friend Little Friend, and others.  We believe that educating students is best done through strong relationships with families and the community.

Boys Town Educational Model

All Yankton schools use the Boys Town Educational Models as a tool to build positive classroom environments, foster strong teacher-student relationships, and teach social skills necessary for life at school and out in the community.
