Award Winners

The Yankton School District proudly recognized several outstanding staff members at its annual Recognition Social held on April 22, celebrating excellence and dedication across the district.

Teacher of the Year honors were awarded to Jan Mattes, high school Spanish teacher. Mattes is recognized for her commitment to student learning, her passion for language education, and the positive impact she makes in the classroom each day. Employee of the Year was awarded to Candi Barge, head custodian at Yankton Middle School. Barge is known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the pride she takes in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for students and staff. This award is sponsored by Marlow, Woodward & Huff Law Office.

The Special Education Support Services Employee of the Year was awarded to Marcia Withrow, a paraprofessional at Trailhead Learning Center. Withrow is recognized for her compassion, dedication, and unwavering support of students with special needs. This award is made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor.
