The Bucks started the season off with a convincing win, defeating the Aberdeen Gden Eagles 48-11. The Bucks will now prepare to play Pierre in the first home game of the season. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm Friday at Crane-Youngworth Field. GO BUCKS!!!

Yankton Gazelles Split Two Duals at Lennox The Yankton Gazelle tennis team traveled to Lennox on Tuesday, August 18, for a pair of duals against Lennox and Vermillion. The Gazelles turned in a strong performance against Lennox, rolling to an 8-1 victory, before dropping a close 5-4 decision to Vermillion. Yankton 8, Lennox 1 The Gazelles controlled the dual against Lennox from the outset, winning eight of the nine team-scoring matches. Karalyn Koerner led the way with a pair of victories, defeating Brooke Buehnet 10-5 in No. 1 singles before teaming with Mary Rounds to win No. 1 doubles 10-4. Mary Rounds also picked up two wins, cruising past Ella Ellwein 10-1 in singles and joining Koerner for the doubles victory. Other Yankton singles winners included Harper Anderson (10-5), Harper Weisenburger (10-2), Ramsey Anderson (10-0), Mary Poeschl (8-5), Kinley Peterson (8-0), and Salena Bonjour (8-0). In doubles, Yankton swept all six listed flights. In addition to Koerner/Rounds, the winning combinations were Harper Anderson/Harper Weisenburger (10-4), Sienna Cuka/Ramsey Anderson (10-8), Mary Poeschl/Izabelle Hagemann (8-4), Kinley Peterson/Abigail Schall (8-6), and Salena Bonjour/Summer Olson (8-5). Vermillion 5, Yankton 4 The Gazelles then faced Vermillion in a tightly contested dual. Yankton won five of the nine team-scoring matches, but Vermillion came away with the 5-4 victory. Koerner and Rounds again provided strong performances in singles, with Koerner defeating Katie Yoon 10-8 and Rounds beating Sakarra White-Davis 10-5. Weisenburger, Ramsey Anderson, Mary Poeschl, Kinley Peterson, Abigail Schall and Salena Bonjour also recorded singles victories. Yankton's doubles wins came from Poeschl/Hagemann, Peterson/Schall, and Bonjour/Summer Olson. The No. 5 doubles match was particularly dramatic, with Peterson and Schall winning a tiebreaker over Isabelle Emerson and Camille Wood, 8-7 (7-4). Bonjour and Olson also prevailed in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (8-6). Despite the 5-4 loss, the Gazelles showed considerable depth, winning several close matches and competing well throughout the triangular.
