The Yankton School District has their propane provider currently on-site at the YSD Administration facilities located at 2410 West City Limits Road. There is maintenance work being conducted on the large propane storage tank. This will include burning off any remaining vapors in the large propane tank, so our propane provider can make necessary repairs. We have been in direct contact with our local Fire Chief regarding this process. Please be advised there will be propane vapors being burned off the large propane storage tank located on-site just to the north-east of the bus maintenance shop. The actual burn-off will take place later this afternoon (Thursday) and on tomorrow (Friday) at the YSD Administration facilities located at 2410 West City Limits Road.

A one-day in-service program for Yankton School District teachers and staff will be held on Monday, April 15. There will be no school for students in Preschool through Grade 12 on this day.

After assessing the road conditions in the rural areas, the late start for Yankton School District has been canceled. Yankton School District will not have school today, Tuesday, March 26 due to the poor road conditions and drifting snow in the rural bussing areas. Our first priority is the safety of the students, and these conditions put them at risk.

Due to inclement weather, Yankton School District will have a 2 hour late start, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 26. There will be no morning preschool at Webster School and no morning Special Education Preschool at Stewart. All buses will run approximately two hours later than their normally scheduled time. Yankton School District is in the process of applying for federal funding for the 2024-25 school year under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The statute contains several “titles,” three of which are applicable to a district of our size:
Title I, Part A = Title I Reading and Math
Title II, Part A = Improving teacher quality to fund staff development activities
Title IV, Part A = Student support in academic enrichment

The YHS student house is for sale. The OPEN HOUSE will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. The house is located in the north building of the Career, Manufacturing and Technical Education Academy, 1200 West 21st Street.
Educators Rising YHS chapter celebrates National School Resource Officer Day.
There will be no school for students in Preschool through Grade 12 on Monday, February 19, in observance of President’s Day. School will resume on Tuesday, February 20.
Open House for the YHS student-built house will be Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. The Open House will be at the construction site located in the north building of the Career, Manufacturing, and Technical Education Academy, 1200 West 21st Street.
