Mrs. Ladwig's nonfiction class welcomed Army infantry combat veteran Bryce Ladwig to their class on Thursday (2/27). He shared details about his career and journey through Afghanistan and Iraq. Thank you for sharing your personal experiences and achievements!
Mrs. Ladwig's nonfiction class welcomed local attorney/writer/podcaster Dave Hosmer to their class on Wednesday (2/26) to discuss his experiences interviewing veterans from the greater Yankton area and beyond. Students learned more stories today in one sitting than ever before.
Mrs. Ladwig's nonfiction class welcomed SFC Aaron Crisman to their class on Tuesday (2/25) to discuss his impressive career in the ARNG. Students are embarking on a unit about war. Students will be able to compare speeches to memoirs. Thank you so much, SFC Crisman!

Yankton Educators Rising Chapter earns Gold as an Outstanding Chapter at the state competition. Congratulations to Jay Myers for earning Gold and being a national qualifier and Noelle Nockels & Kiyah Sherman for earning Bronze in their respective categories.
Some of the Yankton High School band members have had a busy couple months! Auditions were held in December for both the SDSU and USD Honor Bands. Students recorded their auditions and were notified in December if they were selected. These selected students then spent a day and a half with nationally recognized directors and musicians from across five area states! What a great way to make music!
We want to congratulate Damian Janish on being selected as an alternate for the 113 pound weight class at the State Tournament in Rapid City next weekend Feb 27-March 1.

Due to the power outage in Yankton that includes some Yankton School District facilities, the late start is canceled and Yankton School District will not have school today, Tuesday, February 18.
Due to the forecasted early morning cold temperatures and to allow parents additional time for any issues related to the early morning cold temperatures, Yankton School District will have a 2 hour late start, tomorrow, Tuesday, February 18. There will be no morning preschool at Webster School and no morning Special Education Preschool at Stewart. All buses will run approximately two hours later than their normally scheduled time. We LOVE these panels! Mrs. Ladwig's Introduction to Education class experienced their FIFTH panel in their series studying the roles in education. Today featured a PT (Fedders), an OT (Hohenthaner), a business manager (Gerber), and the director of student services (Klimisch)!

Yankton High School HOSA students attended an AVERA All Access event at Avera Sacred Heart. The students attended 4 different sessions in these areas: Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, and Laboratory Science.
